Once as a first-year student who abandoned the university path, Nguyen Duc Giang is now known as the boss of GINA foam bag company with revenues of 2.5 billion dong per month. On the journey of start-up, has faced many times with difficulties, even faced with the risk of entire failure, but after all, perseverance, enthusiasm and business brains brought Duc Giang to touch his success path.

Resolutely choose the path unlike anyone

Nguyen Duc Giang was originally from the poor land in Quang Nam province, but soon moved to Ba Ria – Vung Tau to live with his grandparents. Later, he moved to Ho Chi Minh City and studied in the major of Business Administration, he officially lived with his parents, with the childhood misfortune, his family was not perfect, his parents were not happy. The story of adults led to his financial difficulties, Giang had to abandon his education, soon rushed into life to earn the money. Known as a waiter in cafes, fast food stores, pubs, … and he tried making the business in shoes, watches, opening the noodle store, etc. Giang tried and faced with the early failures. Being sad and depressed, he did not know where his future was going to be forever, and at that time, he could think of collapsing and giving up all his dreams, but thinking of his mother and sister, he must be self-centered to stand up to face the reality again from the beginning.

“At that time, I failed, maybe because I did not know how to do the business, there was no careful calculation. By 2015, I accidentally met a friend who worked in the enterprise, producing the packaging, and foam bags, after I approached that product I felt very excited. This is a cheap product, people use every day, so the reuse capacity is very high”- Nguyen Duc Giang said. Suddenly turning into the field of foam bag business, Giang admitted that he had nothing but the enthusiasm of youth, because he thought that he had nothing to lose. In the first days, Giang went to the factories to see goods, learned how to produce and went to the West provinces to offer. “I can’t remember how many markets in the West, I invite people to see my goods. But also at this time, I saw the potential for development. The contact with the reality made me draw my own valuable lessons.”

Characteristics of packaging business, foam bags are a majority of retail agents, traditional business agents, recorded by the books, fast consumable goods, limited to pay back. But Nguyen Duc Giang chose a path unlike anyone.

The industry peers provided information that the best-selling 10-year-old dealer at that time only sold 50 tons /month. Yet Giang dared to affirm: “I will in the form of wholesales and the quantity sold must be 100 tons / month”.

To fulfill that promise, Giang gradually set up his brand and reputation. At that time, no person making business of foam bags dared to open a company but Giang still decided to establish a company, set up a website. The amount of capital he had at that time was 10 million VND, thanks to the loans. While regular foam bag dealers did not accept to exchange the goods, Giang guaranteed this policy for his customers. As long as the product was defective, he would change it immediately. It is because of this different choice, GINA set up the prestige, the customers were willing to transfer the money firstly, take the goods later – which was very rare for any packaging company to do.

For the small orders, the customers ordered only 10 kg of foam bags, but Giang did not mind the difficulties, still selected the quality products and delivered to their houses. For those business deals, Giang lost all fuel and gas. For the first big order, there was no money to hire the workers, Giang alone carried 1 ton of goods into the customer’s warehouse. The interest for that time was calculated to be 1 million VND, after deducting the rental of transport vehicles, it was less than 600,000 VND.

In the field of packaging, the profit was not high but the cost of capital was very high, because for each item, the company had store at least 20-30 tons. With Giang’s determination, at the end of 2015, his mother decided to borrow all over the place to help him with 100 million Vietnamese dongs to import the goods, rent the trucks and hire more workers.

“At that time, I thought the opportunity was right in front of me. If my business fails, I will not only have to pay my debts. But if I do not know now, my life will prosper. So let’s start working”.

From that 100 million Vietnamese dongs, the GINA foam bag company has achieved an average revenue of 2.5 billion Vietnamese dongs per month, in the peak season, it can reach 3.5 billion Vietnamese dongs. “The consumption of this item is very strong so I continue to expand the market, the revenue in 2019 will be even higher.”

Having achieved the certain success in the packaging industry, Nguyen Duc Giang starts dealing with a new product as quach wine. “In this field, I have not thought about the profit but the development potential is very good. In a time when I happened to eat the quach fruits, and master its great use, I developed the idea of ​​cooking wine. Find out more, I know in Tra Vinh, many households have been cooking this wine for a long time. So I put the locals to cook according to their recipe, to enjoy and give it to their business partners. In the near future, I also plan to run a coffee shop, and introduce more wine to people.”

From business lessons to lessons to people

At the youthful youth, Nguyen Duc Giang became a successful man, a pillar of the family. When asked about the ever-increasing motivation, he shared: “The circumstances do not give me a happy family, nor do I have any financial help, I have to work hard to stand by myself to support my mother and sister. In the early days of start-up, people did not support, there were even people who were sullen and obstructing, but it was okay, because I always had my mother beside me. My mother is the one who taught me about perseverance, supporting all my decisions, being the spiritual support, as a biggest source of motivation. There were times when I was immature, I thought I had to be successful in responding to those who had not treated me well. But then, I realized that my success was to take care of my mother.”

Growing up is emotionally inadequate, Nguyen Duc Giang told that he tried every day to improve himself, because his childhood was not happy, but his son’s childhood must be complete. When his son was born, he wrote on his personal page with all the love of a father:

“Someday, when you grow up, you will set up your own career and family, I hope you will always be happy. Learn how to love, share the good values ​​with everyone in this life.
