For longevity: The waistline should be less than half of the body height

Waistline is not only a criterion for evaluating the physical beauty, but also an important factor for predicting the health status and estimating the longevity.

 

One problem that most women in modern society care about the overweight status. Different stature of the second body circle is also various, so it is impossible to state the specific numbers. We can only say that in the ideal case, the waistline should not exceed 50% of the height. According to new research of British City University,  waist circumference should never exceed half the body height and it is the golden key to long life, healthy life.

Researchers studied the medical records of more than 300,000 people in a period of 20 years. The result  showed that the waist index was important. Experts told the measuring of waist circumference is important because it concerned the concentration of fat around organs and has a special relationship with medical conditions such as stroke or heart disease. According to researchers, this is the verity for both men and women, regardless of age or race. For example, a man or a woman with a height of 170cm waist circumference should not exceed 85cm, if the height is 180cm the waist circumference isn’t over 90cm.

According to researchers, as every centimeter of the waist circumference increases, as your life loses few months. If the waist circumference equals 60% of the body height, life expectancy is reduced by 1.7 years.

Keeping your waist less than half of the body height, you can prevent a lot of illnesses such as high blood cholesterol, cardiovascular disease, diabetes and cause the longevity augmentation – according to Dr. Margaret Ashwell, the main author of this study.
